Nearly 50 years after forming and in the midst of gearing up for the release in April of their 20th studio album, Cheap Trick has a crystal clear message for their generations of fans – the band still wants you to want them.

The album according to an announcement features songs that evoke trademark anthems and “introspective but no less exuberant considerations of times past, present, and unknowable future. “In Another World” also features Cheap Trick’s version of John Lennon’s “Gimme Some Truth,” which was originally released for Record Store Day Black Friday 2019 and features Sex Pistol guitarist Steve Jones.
“As irresistible and immediate as anything in their already awesome catalog,” reads the announcement, “‘In Another World’ is Cheap Trick at their irrepressible best, infinitely entertaining and utterly unstoppable”
“In Another World” marks the latest chapter in the ever-expanding story of Cheap Trick and vocalist and rhythm guitarist Robin Zander, lead guitarist Rick Nielsen and bass player Tom Petersson, as well as drummer Daxx Nielsen. The band has sold more than 20 million records and earned more than 40 international gold and platinum certifications.
“This band is held together by music,” Zander said. “It’s the super glue that keeps us writing and putting records out.”
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, Cheap Trick is described on rockhall.com as “Fun-loving, mischievous and cartoony.” This rock ensemble “proved bands don’t have to take themselves seriously to fill stadiums. Cheap Trick toured incessantly in a raucous display of custom guitars, showmanship and musical virtuosity, all while never losing their sense of humor.”
Formed in 1974, Cheap Trick’s “influential brand of pop rock ‘n’ roll” has crystallized around such iconic and enduring songs as “Surrender,” “Dream Police” and “I Want You To Want Me.” The band’s 1978 live album, “Cheap Trick At Budokan,” is unlikely to ever lose its flair, relevance or appeal.
